Description

The Hit is a fast-paced thriller from David Baldacci. Will Robie is a government assassin. He is highly skilled at his job and is unemotional. His work is to take down enemies of the state or people who plan to unleash acts of violence on innocent people. So far, he has always followed orders and finished his jobs successfully.

He is unmatched in his skills, but there is another person who also has her own special set of skills, also works for the same government agency, and has carried out similar jobs. Jessica Reel is a colleague who also happens to be Robie’s latest target. He has been asked to bring her in, dead or alive.

Jessica Reel, it seems, has gone rogue. On her last job, she deviated from what she had been ordered to do and followed her own agenda. She is now taking down some of her own colleagues methodically. The agency wants her stopped and they have assigned the mission of stopping her to Robie.

Robie accepts the job and gets on her trail, but soon, he begins to wonder if there might be more to the assignment than meets the eye. He begins to wonder about Reel’s reasons for what she has been doing recently. She had been a good agent so far, so there must be a reason why she suddenly turned on her own colleagues.

When Jessica begins try contacting him and also spares his life when she had a clear chance to kill him, Robie decides that it might be worth hearing her side of the story.
